The
Neighbourhood Watch Scheme (NHW) has been in operation for a number of
years and includes Broadway and Penny Long
Lane early in 2009. This is one of many NHW schemes
operating in the area.
The
NHW Scheme is a method of communication between the Police and the
Residents to address and reduce the risk of criminal activities and
anti-social behaviour. We do
this by passing on the Monthly Police Beat Reports, the Community
Matters News Sheets and any Alerts that the police deem appropriate to
the residents via the Street Coordinators. The
residents in turn pass on their concerns and knowledge of any suspicious
events or criminal activities to the police via the Street Coordinators
and myself for comments or clarification.
To
maximise the effectiveness the police have set up Safer Neighbourhood
Teams with our team based at Derby Police HQ, St Mary's Wharf.
Their priorities for our area include:-
-
School and University parking.
-
Contravention of parking restrictions.
-
Dangerous parking.
-
Grass verge parking.
-
Anti-social behaviour and drugs in the church grounds.
-
Auto crime.
-
Street Drinking and Litter in and around the Darley
